This may be the happiest a Cubs fan has been in October.
Indiana native Ben Higgins and Texas real estate developer JoJo Fletcher had Wrigley Field to themselves Oct. 24 for a date that aired Monday on “The Bachelor.” Higgins and Fletcher donned Mr. and Mrs. Higgins jerseys, hit some balls, ran the bases, poked their heads through the center-field scoreboard and dined in the outfield.
“Being here with JoJo at Wrigley Field has been incredibly special to me,” said Higgins, who grew up about 120 miles southeast of Chicago and calls himself a die-hard Cubs fan.
Though Higgins said the ballpark visit was a dream of his, there was some trouble in the outfield. As they dined, Fletcher told Higgins she is scared and nervous to be vulnerable with him. By the end of the date, though, they appeared to have worked out their issues.
“I want you to know that my heart is ready to give to you,” Fletcher assured Higgins.
“I’m very excited about what JoJo and I have,” Higgins said.
Higgins gave Fletcher a rose to guarantee he will meet her family in next week’s episode. California esthetician Amanda Stanton, Ohio software sales representative Caila Quinn and California flight attendant Lauren Bushnell also remain in the competition.
Las Vegas twin Emily Ferguson and California chiropractic assistant Becca Tilley were cut in Monday’s episode.
“The Bachelor” airs 7 p.m. Mondays on ABC.
