Who among us, as the winter freeze settles in, wouldn’t like to visit a rainforest about now? Second best is “Rainforest Adventure,” a new exhibit at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum in Lincoln Park. Along with a full educational dose about the ecosystems of these all-too-distant places, the temporary exhibit, sponsored by the U.S. Forest Service, lets visitors climb a model kapok tree and check out some interesting live animals, including a blue-throated macaw, a green tree python and some powder blue poison dart frogs.

Through spring 2015 at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, hours 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends; 2430 N. Cannon Drive; tickets $9 adults, $6 ages 3-12; 773-755-5100 or naturemuseum.org
