1. Celebration

The annual Profiles in Excellence will be held at 3 p.m. Feb. 1 at Greenbelt Cultural Center, 1215 Green Bay Road, North Chicago. 2. Performance

“La Cage aux Folles” will be performed through March 22 at Marriott Theatre, Ten Marriott Drive, Lincolnshire. With a hit film adaptation, “The Birdcage,” with Nathan Lane and Robin Williams, “La Cage aux Folles” has become a classic musical comedy. Most performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, 1 p.m. Wednesday, 4 p.m. Saturday and 1 and 5 p.m. Sundays. 3. Performance

Clang, clang, clang goes the trolley! “Meet Me in St. Louis” opens on Feb. 6 and will run for three weekends through Feb. 22 at PM&L Theatre, 877 N. Main St., Antioch. Most musicals start on the stage and make their way to Hollywood. “Meet Me in St. Louis” turned that tradition on its ear when it first opened on Broadway, 45 years after the 1944 film hit the silver screen. Performances are at 8 p.m. Feb. 6-7, 13-14, and 20-21, and at 2:30 p.m. Feb. 8, 15 and 22. Tickets are $16 and $13 for seniors and students and are available online at http://www.pmltheatre.com. 4. Performance

Three Brothers Theatre is back with its production of the “Complete History of America (abridged),” opens Feb. 6 and plays through Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at 115 Genesee St., Waukegan. The show is from the acclaimed Reduced Shakespeare Company. The performance will feature three actors, Rick Adams and Nick Ostrem, both of Chicago, and Darreyl Atkins of Gurnee. 5. Fundraiser

Mardi Gras, a fun-filled fundraising bash thrown by Waukegan Main Street, will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Feb. 7 at Glen Flora Country Club, 2200 N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan. Get decked out in your finery, enjoy a Cajun-inspired buffet, music, tarot card readings, and casino games. Raffle tickets are also available at $10 each, or six for $50.
