Oscar-winning rapper Rhymefest said he quit working with Kanye West last month and the rapper needs “spiritual and mental” help.
“He should step away from the public and yes men and heal,” Rhymefest tweeted Friday.
Rhymefest, who co-wrote the West tracks “New Slaves” and “Jesus Walks,” responded to a Twitter user asking him to write West’s lyrics again because his lyrics don’t make sense.
“Nah, his mind and spirit isn’t right,” replied Rhymefest, a one-time South Side aldermanic candidate.

West released the “The Life of Pablo” album over the weekend. He collaborated with Chicago’s Chance the Rapper, Rihanna, Chris Brown and The Weeknd, among others.
Meanwhile, Rhymefest is nominated for two Grammys with Common and John Legend for their song “Glory” from the “Selma” soundtrack. The awards show is scheduled to begin 7 p.m. Monday on CBS.
