The Kanye West versus Taylor Swift saga continued Wednesday as the 39-year-old South Side rapper surprised fans when he took the stage during Drake’s performance at the United Center. During his appearance, West called out Swift.
“All I gotta say is, I am so glad my wife has Snapchat, because now y’all can know the truth and can’t nobody talk s–t about ‘Ye no more,” West told the crowd about the now infamous Snapchat videos his wife, Kim Kardashian, released of a phone call between the rapper and Swift about lyrics in his single “Famous.”
“It was awesome,” said Cecilia Gomez, a 19-year-old from Whiting, Ind. “After he talked about … no one is going to mess with Kanye anymore, I was like, ‘True!'”
Gomez said the crowd went insane when West hit the stage.
“Drake was playing something to do with Rihanna. So I was low-key sure he was going to bring her out,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it (when West came out instead). I lost it.”
Drake and West performed their collaboration “Pop Style,” before West performed “Famous” and “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1.” The crowd rapped West’s “I made that b—- famous” line, reports E!.
The Snapchat video released July 17 contradicted Swift’s camp claim that Kanye did not call her to get approval for the song that debuted at the Yeezy Season 3 fashion show Feb. 11.
“Kanye did not call for approval, but to ask Taylor to release his single ‘Famous’ on her Twitter account. She declined and cautioned him about releasing a song with such a strong misogynistic message,” Swift’s February statement read.
After Kardashian’s video went viral, Swift fired back claiming West never told her she was going to be called “that b—-.”
“You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that b—-‘ in front of the entire world,” Swift wrote July 17.
West is scheduled to perform in the Chicago area Oct. 7 at the United Center and Oct. 8 at the Allstate Arena as part of his Saint Pablo tour.
