Timothy Simons and Matt Walsh are developing a comedy for Paramount Studios called “Red Shirt,” set in the world of college football.

The pair, who co-star on the HBO political satire “Veep,” both logged time in Chicago earlier in their careers, Simons as a theater actor and Walsh on the sketch and improv scene (most notably iO Theater, where he and collaborators Amy Poehler, Matt Besser and Ian Roberts created the Upright Citizens Brigade).

On “Veep,” Simons plays Jonah Ryan, the universally despised liaison between the White House and the vice president’s office; Walsh (a Chicago native) plays Mike McLintock, a sad-sack press secretary.

Walsh is currently filming the “Ghostbusters” reboot, while Simons is in Thailand filming “Gold” with Matthew McConaughey. Work on the fifth season of “Veep” is set to begin in a few weeks.
