Fox is developing an event special around “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” the enduring midnight-movie classic that has been playing for 40 years.

Kenny Ortega is on board to direct and choreograph. Gail Berman is producing through her Jackal Group with Fox 21 Television Studios. Berman has long been looking to do a “Rocky Horror” revival — she set a similar project in motion more than a decade ago when she was entertainment president at Fox.

The “Rocky Horror” revival is in the early stages of development and is cast-contigent. It is described as a “two-hour event” special. Lou Adler, producer of the original 1975 pic starring Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick and Susan Sarandon, is also on board as an exec producer.

Pic helped launch Tim Curry’s career and is known for its signature musical number “Time Warp.”

Ortega, repped by Paradigm, is a natural choice to helm the project, given his background with tuners including “High School Musical.” He’s also on board to helm a feature revival of “Dirty Dancing.”
