Chicago comedian Hannibal Buress had his appearance on CBS’s “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” canceled Thursday, and he said it was all due to something he tweeted.

“I was scheduled to do a set on Ferguson today but the show runner unbooked me because of this tweet,” Buress tweeted Thursday, referring to his tweet Tuesday which stated “Yo @CraigyFerg last time I did your show you left set before I went on and I had an awkward fadeout situation.”

The YouTube video shows Buress’s set end with a fadeout and then Ferguson at his desk telling the audience “Got to go. Goodnight, everybody,” which may or may not have been taped beforehand.

“I don't know if Ferguson had anything to do with the (cancelation). But it's pretty wack nonetheless...” Buress tweeted Thursday. “I hope that it was all the producers doing and not Ferguson. If ferguson made that call it would be 10 times as wack.

“Also I didn't pursue them for a set at all. The booker asked me. I haven't done stand up on late night in more than a year by choice. I'm more disappointed than angry. Unless my stream of twitter facts gets me blackballed from late night, I'll do a set somewhere else soon.”

It is unclear whether Buress, a former writer for NBC's "30 Rock" and "Saturday Night Live," assumed or was told the tweet was the reason his appearance was canceled, but it's evident Ferguson wants to make amends either way.

@hannibalburess Hey. Just saw your tweet,” Ferguson tweeted to Buress afterward. “That's (expletive). I'll fix it tomorrow. You are welcome on my show.”

CBS and Buress did not immediately respond to a request for comment. | Twitter @TribLuis
