Why haven't people said, "Enough superhero movies"? Of course, many have. But those people don¿t vote with their dollars. "Hancock," starring Will Smith, calculatedly edgy, unwilling to go anywhere fresh, rings like a beacon from the future -- at some point in the life of a genre, Hollywood overreaches, co-opts whatever genuine feeling exists in a genre, and people wonder why they have been watching so many similar stories in such a brief period of time. It happened with the musical in the 1960s. This narcissistic movie is more about the difficulty of being a famous than super. The hairline cracks begin.
