This show is a classic example of what Theo Ubique's Fred Anzevino can achieve with young vocal talent, a few hundred square feet of space, a fine music director named Austin Cook and the American songbook. "Some Enchanted Evening" is a simple revue of some 36 of the very familiar songs by the iconic composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. The conceit is that we are listening to the actors warm up and eavesdropping on some of that magical pre-show tension and dressing-room self-reflection. As the familiar songs roll by — all beautifully sung by the likes of the ever-better Theo Ubique regulars Dana Tretta and Jeremy Trager — you find yourself realizing anew how well Rodgers and Hammerstein understood middle America and gave voice to its fantasies.
