Venture Kitchen and Bar has opened up in downtown Hampton in the space formerly occupied by Brent’s Restaurant.
The “tapas and pizza” restaurant has one of the most intriguing menus I’ve come across in a while. Lunch features salads, sandwiches and pizzas, with tapas and entrees available after 3 p.m.
On the day I stopped in, lunch specials included a Thai Chicken Wedge consisting of cool minced cilantro-lime chicken on a wedge of iceberg lettuce with warm sesame ginger dressing. Or you could choose a sausage and peppers sub made with house Italian sausage, roasted peppers, caramelized onions, fried oregano, tomaro sauce and mozzarella.
The lineup of more than a dozen pizzas includes eggplant, prosciutto and mushroom, BBQ chicken, and Hampton Hawaiian (pineapple, country ham and crab). The tapas menu brings pates, sauasage board and port wine fondue, to name a few.
Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday-Saturday and 3 p.m. to midnight Sunday.
