Clearance toy aisles offer particularly good deals in the early weeks of January, but who needs more toys?
I use this time to stock up my "birthday closet."
With a 3-year-old preschooler and a 5-year-old kindergartener, birthday parties are often on our weekend to-do list.
Two years ago, prompted by a combination coupon and sale opportunity at Target, I stocked my closet with board games and other toys for less than $20. That stockpile lasted me a year of birthday parties, and some of those items even ended up under our Christmas tree.
The blog Totally Target offers some specific items on sale during the retailer's toy clearance event. Deals include Barbies for $1.50 and a Doc McStuffins doctor's kit for $1.50.
For those who shop at Toys "R" Us throughout the holiday season, don't forget to use your earned rewards on clearance items.
Rewards members should have an email with their rewards certificate earned on purchases made in November. Those rewards expire on Jan. 31. Rewards from purchases made in December will be issued on Jan. 27.
