William and Mary's 2014 football schedule includes a game against Virginia Tech, two local rivals and two new Colonial Athletic Association opponents.
The Tribe, 7-5 in 2013, plays six home games and a 12-game schedule for the second consecutive season.
W&M opens at Virginia Tech on Aug. 30, its annual game against a Football Bowl Subdivision opponent, and faces three Football Championship Subdivision playoff teams from this season: Towson, New Hampshire and Lafayette.
William and Mary also plays non-conference games against local teams Hampton and Norfolk State. The Tribe's home opener is Sept. 13 against the Spartans, the first of a two-game, home-and-home series.
W&M's Sept. 6 game at Hampton is the second of a two-game deal. The Tribe defeated HU this year in Williamsburg.
William and Mary also faces Stony Brook and Elon for the first time, in CAA games. Stony Brook became part of the CAA in football this season, while Elon joins the conference for all sports beginning next season.
The schedule: Aug. 30 at Virginia Tech; Sept. 6 at Hampton; Sept. 13 vs. Norfolk State; Sept. 20 vs. Lafayette; Sept. 27 at Stony Brook; Oct. 11 at New Hampshire; Oct. 18 vs. Villanova; Oct. 25 vs. Delaware; Nov. 1 at James Madison; Nov. 8 vs. Elon; Nov. 15 at Towson; Nov. 22 vs. Richmond.
