William and Mary product Ben Guez batted 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run Wednesday as host Toledo (54-72) overcame a three-run deficit to beat Norfolk 5-3, dropping the Tides (65-61) a game behind Pawtucket (65-59) in the wild-card race.
The Tides’ runs came on a solo home run by Chris Dickerson and a two-run homer by Chris Snyder. Dickerson and Danny Valencia had a pair of hits apiece.
For the Mud Hens, Detroit’s top farm club, catcher Brad Davis, 30, had two hits and two RBI in his final pro game.
Davis will finish his education at Long Beach State while also serving as a volunteer coach for the usually powerful 49ers' baseball team.

East Carolina product Mark Minicozzi hit a go-ahead three-run homer to center field in the eighth as Richmond (62-60) rallied past Akron 4-3 before 6,203 at The Diamond.
The four-run eighth enabled the Flying Squirrels to continue a surge that has brought them to 62-60 and playoff contention with about three weeks left in the season.
Aeros starter Will Roberts shined in his hometown, getting no decision after it looked like he could win. The former Virginia Cavalier pitched six scoreless innings, yielding a walk and five hits while striking out four.
