The Peninsula Pilots endured a forgettable, wet Thursday night, falling 7-2 to the host Edenton Steamers in a game that was stopped because heavy rain made the field unplayable before the bottom of the fifth inning.
Old Dominion's Jordan Negrini belted a home run for the Pilots (4-5), but Liberty's Danny Grauer endured a rough outing for the loss: seven earned runs, four walks and nine hits in 3 2/3 innings.
Adam Kirsch batted 3-for-3 with two runs for the Steamers, and Laz Villa drove in three runs.

Jason Pridie, Zelous Wheeler and Travis Ishikawa each drove in two runs Thursday night as the Norfolk Tides beat the host Louisville Bats 9-3.
Tsuyoshi Wada gained his first victory of the season for the Tides, who have taken two of three in the series. Wheeler batted 2-for-5 and scored twice.
Wednesday, the Orioles called up Xavier Avery for a victory at Houston but optioned him back to the Tides later in the day; he was subbing for Nick Markakis, who was attending his grandmother’s funeral.
New Britain beat Richmond 9-4 at The Diamond, capitalizing as the Flying Squirrels walked 13 Rock Cats.
New Britain had just five hits for the game but took a 9-0 lead, thanks to a two-run fifth inning and a seven-run sixth.
