Inside the PD: Bullock, Barber to play in VHSCA All-Star game

The season is barely over, but the VHSCA has already announced the rosters for its all-star basketball games in July.

The East has three familiar names: Hampton’s Anthony Barber, Kecoughtan’s Rodney Bullock and Grafton’s Elijah Moore.

Barber, the 2011-12 Group AAA Player of the Year, is the Peninsula District’s all-time leading scorer with 2,097 points. Bullock, a 6-foot-8 forward who led the PD in scoring at 21.4 ppg, is fourth with 1,778.

Moore, who averaged 22 points and 9 rebounds as a senior, led the Clippers to the state championship game in 2012 and ’13.

The rest of the East roster as of now: Steve Bienlien (Great Bridge),  Troy Caupain (Cosby),  Rze Culbreath (Millbrook), Ed Drew (Nansemond Suffolk), Tim Jones (Henrico), Ramone Snowden (Kellam), Brandan Stith (Brunswick), Markel  Williams (William Monroe), and  Jamie Wilson (West Point), 

The West team is: Andy Arnold (Gate City), Marcus Banks (Patrick Henry),  Luke Ervin (Gate City), Charlie Fitzgerald (Parry McCluer),  Jimmy Marshall (Douglas Freeman), Tyrel  Mason (Mountain View), Karl  Overstreet (E.C.  Glass), Mack Owens (Abingdon),  Andrew Rowsey (Rockbridge County), J.R.  Washington (Stonewall Jackson), Hyrum Weiler (Spotswood),  and Joe Wilson (Mountain View).

As of now,  the girls’ all-star game has no representatives from the Peninsula and only one from the 757: Princess Anne’s Alexis Platt.
