Old Dominion’s Women’s National Invitation Tournament stay ended with an 82-73 first-round loss Thursday to Davidson at Constant Center, despite Shae Kelley’s 21 points and six rebounds.

So Aleksandravicius had 27 points and 11 rebounds for the Wildcats, who led by double digits almost throughout the second half and advanced to play nearby rival Charlotte in the second round.

ODU led 25-24 before a 10-0 run gave Davidson the lead for good. ...

Kirby Burkholder had 22 points and 14 rebounds and Tarik Hislop had 17 points and seven assists as James Madison overcame a nine-point second-half deficit to beat North Carolina A&T 77-64 in Harrisonburg.

Amber Calvin led A&T with 25 points, shooting 7-of-9 from 3-point range.

The Dukes will stay home for Sunday’s 2 p.m. home game against N.C. State, which ousted Richmond 60-55 despite Becca Wann’s 20 points and 11 rebounds. Markeisha Gatling had 14 points and nine rebounds for the Wolfpack.

Hampton’s Jailynn Jackson was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week, while teammate Diamond Ponds was named Rookie of the Week.

In the Lady Pirates Classic, Jackson was 2-1, while Ponds batted 4-for-9.
