British pillage Hampton

This mid-19th century map of the June 25, 1813 Battle of Hampton shows the two-pronged British attack in which a force of about 2,000 soldiers and Royal Marines marched overland from what is now Olde Wythe while an assault force of about 40 barges attacked on the Hampton River. The American defenses and encampment were concentrated on Cedar Point overlooking the river but failed to blunt the attack. From Lossing¿s Pictorial Field Book of the War of 1812
