Gloucester County has several openings for residents to serve on boards and commissions. The open positions include:
--One seat on the Mosquito Control District Commission, which provides direction and advice for the county's mosquito control program. Preferred applicants would reside in one of the county's mosquito control districts.
Meetings are held as needed and average one to two a year. Information: 804-693-6269;
--One seat on the Clean Community Advisory Committee, which advises county staff and the Board of Supervisors on county beautification efforts, litter prevention and clean-up programs, collection and disposal of solid waste, recycling and environmental education.
The meetings are on the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m.;
--One seat representing the Petsworth district on the Older Adult Committee, which advises the Board of Supervisors in the areas of development of an improved older adult facility, transportation needs, health care and nutrition needs, financial planning and taxes, social activities, low-cost home repair loans and housing needs of the elderly.
The committee meets on the third Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at Gloucester Main Street Active Lifestyle Center. Information: 804-693-4042 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
--One seat representing the Gloucester Point district on the Historical Committee, an advisory group that assists in locating, collecting, studying and preserving historical records and promoting the preservation and restoration of properties of historical significance to the county.
