The Newport News Fall Festival of Folklife is a popular event that features 230 exhibitors offering traditional crafts, trade demonstrations, music and food. Bluegrass, children's and folk music will be part of the fun as well as Native American dance, clogging and Hispanic dance. A craft marketplace will be filled with vendors selling gifts, collectibles and home-decorating items. It happens at Newport News Park 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1 to Sunday, Oct. 2. Admission is free, but parking is $10 per vehicle. A free shuttle bus service will run between satellite parking areas -- Woodside High School and Glenwood Elementary School -- and the festival.
