I was a bit suspicious of my wonton pad Thai, as I couldn't figure out in advance how the wontons would be worked into this traditional Thai dish. Turns out that wontons replaced the thick rice noodles that usually form the base of this meal. Smaller than usual, these wontons were fried with the traditional sauce, scrambled egg, sprouts, chicken and shrimp, as well as some string beans and scallions for color. The resulting combination was actually a little less filling than the original pad Thai recipe. Once I got over my initial skepticism about the dish, I was able to sit back and enjoy the rest of my meal.

This tiny storefront restaurant has practically no décor but sports the pinkest walls I've ever seen in an eatery. It's a deep rosey hue that gives every face a nice glow.
Or, maybe it's the excellent Thai food that does it, some of the best in Connecticut. I still dream about the deep-fried quail.
Hours: Open for lunch Mon.-Sat. 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m.; dinner Sun.-Thur. 5-9:30 p.m. and Fri. & Sat. 5-10:30 p.m.
