The City Seed farmers’ markets in New Haven are shifting seasons. This Thursday is the final 2013 date for the Fair Haven market, which has been operating since late spring at a new location, on the corner of Grand Avenue and Poplar Street. The market in The Hill section of the city already ended for the year on October 26, while the Wednesday one downtown on New Haven Green will finish on November 27. The other two Cityseed markets, Saturdays in Wooster Square and Sundays on the Westville side of Edgewood Park are year-round affairs.
The cutting back is natural, and obvious, since the fall harvest season is over. But it’s also the time of year when farmers’ market really stand out, with all those squashes and root vegetables and autumnal stuff. Make the most of it while it lasts.
