A 48-foot mosaic located on the side of the New Britain-Berlin YMCA was officially revealed to the public Saturday afternoon. The mosaic was started June 21 when volunteers began to turn the side of the building into a work of art, one piece of tile at a time. It was originally planned to complete the mosaic in 48-hours, but due to weather and other setbacks it was completed in a week. The project was organized by Central Connecticut State University's Community Central program, which strives to engage the surrounding communities of the university through arts and other mediums. The mosaic itself was designed by CCSU Professor Jerry Butler and depicts the history and ingenuity of the New Britain community.
