Simeon All Access | Parker out for Monday's game, likely to sit out games rest of week

Jabari Parker visited Simeon coach Robert Smith on Monday at school and removed himself from the Wolverines' equation for the time being.

The right foot that he fractured over the summer was sore after two games on the road last week, and so Parker decided to spend Monday's game at Carver on the bench in jeans. He likely will sit out Wednesday against Larry Hawkins and Friday against Brooks.

"I wanted to rest throughout the week," said Parker, who will announce his college decision at 3 p.m. Thursday at Simeon. "My foot was a little sore because it's not used to the pounding, but in due time, I'll be there.

"(The return is) slow, but it helps me learn how to be patient and focus on what's more important. That's my team."

Parker said he thinks he'll be back by the Pontiac Tournament next week, and Smith said he'll practice with the team this week.

"Basically getting in shape, working on his timing and stuff like that," Smith said. "He's able to play, but we want to make sure he's further along.

"He tried it for three games, and he doesn't feel like he's where he should be at right now."
