Eat this: The unicorn sandwich at Jackalope Coffee & Tea House

The "Unicorn": Since opening in the fall, Jackalope Coffee & Tea House has become a South Side staple for gourmet drinks and locally sourced baked goods. Now, the quirky Bridgeport cafe also offers "mythical" sandwiches for the lunchtime crowd, with names that pay homage to creatures such as Bigfoot, the Jolly Green Giant and, of course, the Jackalope. Every day after 11 a.m., customers can build their own creations or choose a specialty sandwich such as the Centaur, the Imp and the kid-size Pixie. However, the Unicorn is the most enchanting of all: an Italian-inspired grilled cheese of melted mozzarella, juicy tomatoes and savory pesto on fresh Bridgeport Bakery bread. Paired with a cup of soup or side salad, the Unicorn is an irresistibly magical indulgence with the power to charm vegetarians and carnivores. 755 W. 32nd St., 312-888-3468, jackalopecoffee.com
