Our book club has been meeting for 10 years and is composed of 30-somethings with very busy lives. We hold our discussions at a different house each month. Most of us live in Chicago's south suburbs; a couple members live in the city.
When members don't read the book they must give $5 to our president. That money goes toward our yearly outing.
I think we all loved "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins. We were leery of choosing this book because of its label as a young adult book, but we're glad we did. We are dying to see the movie.
Some of us were excited about "Life" by Keith Richards, but it really disappointed. We thought he was too wordy and his story was too drawn out.
We would like to meet Carolyn Jessop, author of "Escape." We read her book and were very intrigued by her past polygamist life. We would be interested to see how her new life is going and to find out her thoughts on the recent court cases involving polygamy.
Four books we loved: "Beach Music" by Pat Conroy, "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" by Rebecca Wells, "When Rabbit Howls" by Truddi Chase and "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory.
Our next book: "Pope Joan" by Donna Woolfolk Cross.
