Satoshi Matsumoto, managing director and director of Japan mergers & acquisitions, Baird Investment Banking

Satoshi Matsumoto has joined Baird Investment Banking as a managing director and director of Japan mergers & acquisitions. In the newly created role, Matsumoto will work with Baird's investment bankers across a range of industry verticals to coordinate the firm's M&A activity between Japanese businesses and companies based in the U.S., Europe and other parts of Asia. In particular, he will be responsible for accessing potential Japanese buyers as a part of Baird's global sellside processes. He will be based in the firm's Chicago office.

Matsumoto brings nearly 20 years of banking experience to Baird. Most recently, he was a managing director and head of Japan consumer/retail investment banking at Barclays Capital in Tokyo. Prior to Barclays, Matsumoto spent more than 10 years in global M&A and industry coverage roles at Lehman Brothers and Nomura Securities. Throughout his career, he worked on more than 50 M&A deals, the vast majority of which are cross-border transactions involving Japanese companies.
