Dr. Michael Howell has joined the University of Chicago Medicine as the new associate chief medical officer for clinical quality, effective July 1. A practicing intensivist, Howell will also be an associate professor in the section of pulmonary and critical care medicine in the Department of Medicine. Previously, Howell was with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Harvard Medical School, where he founded the division of Critical Care Quality. Howell received a bachelor's in Asian studies at Rice University in Houston and his medical degree at the Baylor College of Medicine.
