Dr. Jeffrey Bloss, vice president of scientific and medical affairs, Astellas US LLC

Dr. Jeffrey Bloss has joined Astellas US LLC as vice president of the scientific and medical affairs division. Bloss will be responsible for leading the U.S. medical affairs organization and also support the medical affairs function in Canada and Latin America. Bloss, a gynecologic oncologist, joins Astellas from GlaxoSmithKline Oncology, where he served as vice president and head of global medical affairs. He has more than a decade of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, beginning in 2001 when he joined Eli Lilly & Company as a senior clinical research physician. He has also held management positions at Genentech, Inc., Onyx Pharmaceuticals Inc. and Xenocor.

Bloss entered the pharmaceutical industry following a career in academia and the U.S. Air Force. He holds a medical degree from Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College and was an obstetrics and gynecology resident at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas.
