Dr. Gerard J. Abood, a gastrointestinal oncology surgeon, has joined to Loyola University Health System. He also is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. His medical interests include surgical oncology for the treatment of cancer in the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, bile duct, small bowel and colon as well as laparoscopy and robot-assisted surgery for GI malignancy. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. He completed his residency in general surgery as well as a research fellowship in tumor biology at Loyola University Medical Center. He completed his fellowship training in surgical oncology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center with a special focus in minimally invasive approaches to complex GI malignancy.
