First team

Mike McCormack, sr., Downers Grove South

Starred in the spotlight with big-time goals, including state-title game-winner. Scored in six of seven playoff games, assisted in the other. Tribune's tournament MVP. Looking at EIU, WIU, Wis.-Green Bay, among others.

Frank Patano, sr., Leyden
Scoring machine climbed the state lists while taking Eagles to first sectional final. Scored 36 goals with 19 assists this season to finish 10th in goals (122) and eighth in assists (68). Considering Wisconsin, NIU and others for college choice.

Jack Smithson, sr., Hinsdale C.
Clever playmaker scored 22 goals and recorded 17 assists for a Red Devils team that had a 22-game unbeaten streak and was ranked No. 1 through regular season. School career goals leader (53) headed to New Mexico.

Zac Scaffidi, sr., Geneva

Scored seven goals in five playoff games to lead the Vikings to surprise Elite Eight berth. Had 24 goals and six assists while displaying tireless work ethic. Considering Northwestern, Michigan State, Wisconsin and Northern Illinois.

Brad Ring, sr., Rockford Guilford
All-State defender in 2003 moved back to midfield and had 42 goals and 20 assists. Led Vikings to third place after runner-up finish in '03. Fast with a strong and accurate shot. Mulling offers from Wisconsin and Indiana.

Nick Gauna, sr., Evanston
Great field presence and game knowledge added up to 25 goals and 16 assists. Team captain had an excellent first touch, contributing to his evasiveness. Considering attending Washington U. (St. Louis) or Northwestern.

Tyler Voigt, sr., Wheaton Warrenville South
Tigers' "Mr. Versatility" filled in wherever the team needed him, including forward and sweeper. High-energy performer worked end-to-end and had 12 goals and 11 assists for champions of Barrington and Pepsi tournaments. Headed to Northwestern.

Kevin Harrigan, sr., Downers Grove South

Clutch play with seconds left in regulation kept AA champion Mustangs alive in title game. Left-footer's sideline carries and long accurate serves were a key part of offense (four goals, 15 assists). Hard-nosed back was a physical presence. Committed to UIC.

Chris Schuler, sr., Waubonsie Valley
Tall (6 feet 4 inches) and agile, the center back was nearly impossible to break down. A top technical player whose leadership on the back line kept the Upstate Eight champs among the area's best. Will continue his career at soccer powerhouse Indiana.

Kellington Boddie, sr., Peoria Notre Dame
Used athleticism and speed to impact the entire field. Excellent in one-on-one and 50/50 situations. Recorded six goals and 10 assists for Class A state champions. Looking at Bradley, Southwest Missouri, Western Kentucky and Michigan.

Chay Cain, sr., Waubonsie Valley

Nationally recognized goalkeeper a force between pipes. Great hands, seldom gave up a rebound, very tough on penalty kicks. Finished four-year varsity career with 44 shutouts and 0.46 goals-against average. Has committed to Indiana.
