An Alsip man was killed when he rear-ended a school bus on the Tri-State Tollway (I-294) in northwest suburban Rosemont on Saturday afternoon, state police said.
The man, identified as David Ramirez, 30, of the 3600 block of West Benck Drive in Alsip, was traveling south on I-294 when he was involved in a crash, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office. Ramirez was taken in critical condition to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge where he was pronounced dead at 2 a.m.
Ramirez allegedly slammed into the back of a 1998 Dodge Caravan school bus that had slowed down in front of him, said Illinois State Police District Chicago Sgt. Mark Pilgrim. The bus was not carrying children at the time.
An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
