Clinton will appear at a rally for Emanuel at 11 a.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center. The event is open to the public although the free tickets that were available for the event on Emanuel's campaign Web site were all snapped up. The doors open at 10 a.m.
Clinton will also be headlining a fundraiser for Emanuel that day.
Before serving as President Barack Obama’s chief of staff and in Congress, Emanuel worked as a senior adviser for policy and strategy for Clinton.
Clinton’s appearance in Chicago for the mayor’s race has raised the eyebrows of some of Emanuel’s opponents. Former U.S. Sen. Carol Moseley Braun said Clinton is “an outsider coming to town to support another outsider.”
When Braun ran for re-election in 1998, Hillary Clinton campaigned for Braun in the Chicago area.
The election is Feb. 22.
