4008 W. Madison St., orange, commercial-office, Classical details, 1927, D. H. Burnham Jr.: An eight-story classical office building designed by D.H., Burnham Jr., son of famous Chicago architect and planner Daniel Burnham. City surveyors characterized the 1927 building as “the most imposing structure on the block” and praised its “elaborately carved monumental façade.” Demolished in 2002.
