Adopt a beach

Chelsea Vann, with the marine mammal division at the Shedd Aquarium, helps pull cheat weed, a non-native grass and invasive plant, at the 63rd Street Beach in Chicago's South Side. According to a press release, the Shedd Aquarium is springing into action this summer, inviting volunteers to adopt and restore local habitats with the return of its popular Adopt-A-Beach series and the new Great Lakes Action Days program.
