Pippen on 1991 Bulls:
Winning that first one is always a relief. It was the most fun. It was new so the celebration felt lasting.
For me, it was four years of hell. That was a huge relief. It was a lift off my shoulders, a guy who had suffered a migraine in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals the year before. So for me, it was a lot of joy, that breakthrough of finally being able to beat a team who was your nemesis.
I think we did. We felt it was over with after we beat the Pistons. We had a bit of a letdown in Game 1. That was our first Finals so we had nervous energy. We didnt play bad. We made some critical mistakes late.
If I ask my body, I can. But it really doesnt seem like its been 20 years. I was able to be successful early in my career. When you hit success early, time does really go fast.
I grew up with those guys as a young player. Im probably closer with them because I had time to bond with those guys. Its great. I think this is more for the fans for us to show our appreciation of years of support, not just that season.
Its a memory we want to relive again. When you win a championship, thats a celebration you dont ever want to end.
