Jail demolition

Chicago's old jail being demolished on Aug 22, 1934. Construction of a new county jail was completed by the end of 1929. It was located at 26th and California, next door to the city's House of Corrections. The two had a combined daily population of more than 3200 inmates. Chicago Tribune historical photo
