A man extradited from South Dakota has been charged with pushing a woman out of a third-story window on the South Side in the summer of 2011, police said.
Daniel E. Neasom, 29, is charged with murder in the death of Cynthia M. Barnes, 39. He was arrested on a warrant for first-degree murder and arrived in Chicago Wednesday after being extradited from Aberdeen, S.D., police said. The warrant was issued on Jan. 23, records show.
Barnes was pushed from the window in the 5800 block of South Kedzie Avenue in the Gage Park neighborhood early on the morning of July 24, 2011, police said. Police found her lying on a sidewalk.
An autopsy determined Barnes died of multiple injuries from the fall and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
Police discovered that Neasom had also apparently fallen from a third-floor window at the same address and was taken in critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said. He was arrested at the hospital but later released without being charged, police said.
Police said Neasom is expected to appear in court today.
