After investigating a suspicious package found late this morning in the Loop, Chicago police have cconcluded there was no danger and have re-opened the area, police said.
No one was hurt and the area was "cleared" at 1 p.m., said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
"Thankfully, there was nothing to it," Mirabelli said. "It turned out to be an anti-theft device that was inside a plastic bag discarded outside. It posed no threat."
Shortly before noon, a person had seen an unattended plastic bag on the east side of Wabash Avenue a few doorways south of Madison Street and wanted it checked out, said Mirabelli.
"Out of an abundance of caution," police took a look at it, said Mirabelli.
