Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Martin E. Dempsey (R) announce lifting the ban on women serving in front line combat roles during a media briefing at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. The announcement will open up hundreds of thousands of frontline positions for women.
