Philip Nevels has been named executive director of ChicagoNEXT, a dedicated effort of World Business Chicago to drive growth and opportunity in the business community related to science, technology, innovation and entrepreneurship. Nevels comes to WBC from Power2Switch, the web-based energy marketplace he co-founded in 2009 to bring innovation to energy brokerage. He was chief operating officer. Before that, Nevels worked for technology and client service companies including Google, Nokia and Accenture. ChicagoNEXT focuses broadly on technology and science-based pursuits, with an emphasis on clean tech, bioscience, and web and mobile. Its goals include attracting talent, engaging alumni (university and corporate), increasing available venture capital, raising Chicago¿s tech profile, connecting entrepreneurs with Chicago¿s corporate community, providing a voice for the technology community and improving data collection and reporting. Nevels is a Chicago native who received his B.S. in electrical engineering from Princeton University and his MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
