The CTA reported delays on the Blue Line this afternoon in the West Town community because of a person who was on the tracks.
According to the transit agency’s website, a sick passenger was on the tracks near the Grand Avenue station at 502 N. Milwaukee Ave.
CTA spokeswoman Lambrini Lukidis said a person was on the right of way near that station about 12:45 p.m., but Chicago Fire Department crews assisted the person back to the platform. The person was not hit by a train and did not make contact with the electrified third rail, she said.
The CTA then restored power to the northbound tracks between Clark, Lake and Division stations, said Lukidis.
Emergency personnel remained on the scene and riders should allow extra time for travel, according to the site.
Fire Department spokesman Will Knight said the person was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where their condition had stabilized. Knight did not know what kind of injuries the person suffered.
