Man dies after struck by train in Roseland

A man died Tuesday night after being hit by a train in the Roseland neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Paramedics were called to the 11400 block of South Wentworth Avenue for a person hit by a train about 8 p.m. and took the victim in serious-to-critical condition to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to Fire Department spokesman Chief Joe Roccasalva.

The man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at 11:16 p.m. at John H. Stroger, Hospital of Cook County, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

An autopsy is scheduled for today.
