Hugh Masekela

Legendary musician Hugh Masekela comes to town with "The Jabulani Tour," part of Northwestern's Black History Month programming, which the university is calling a celebration of African and African-American culture. Masekela has been a historic influence in both cases, campaigning for human rights and telling stories of struggle with his brand of jazz, world and pop music that translates to audiences all over the world.

Why go: "Jabulani," the latest from Masekela, is a look back at township weddings in South Africa, where beautiful songs (with choreographed steps) were created, sung and presented to the couple by friends, neighbors and relatives.
