A Chicago police sergeant was carjacked while off-duty in the South Shore neighborhood Friday night, police said.

About 10:20 p.m., the sergeant was behind the wheel of a silver 2006 Infinity SUV when he was carjacked near 71st Street and East End Avenue, police said.

The sergeant was not taken to a hospital but was treated on the scene for minor wounds, police said.

His gun, badge, and bulletproof vest were in the SUV, which is still missing this morning, police said. | Twitter: @PeterNickeas
