This crowded place may overwhelm toddlers, but if your crew includes preteens and teens, the opportunity to get a sandwich "as big as your head" and a milkshake ($3.50) may win 'em over. How big? If you eat in and order a triple decker (Ours? A delicious Giant "J" stack of rare roast beef, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, horseradish and Russian dressing, $7.75, above), the counter team puts half the sandwich on a plate with a tub of slaw, pasta salad or potato salad and wraps the other half to go. By the way, we're told they're opening a second location on Maxwell Street next month. And if you can't get in, this stretch of Franklin also has the smoked-chubs-to-chopped-liver Eppy's Cafe & Deli (162 N. Franklin St.; 312-345-7777).
