Bud Freeman

Bud Freeman grew up in Chicago during the city's golden age of jazz and as part of the " Austin High School Gang", snuck into clubs to soak up the music. The saxophonist played with <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB001998" title="Benny Goodman" href="/topic/entertainment/music/benny-goodman-PECLB001998.topic">Benny Goodman</a> and <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PECLB001443" title="Tommy Dorsey" href="/topic/entertainment/music/tommy-dorsey-PECLB001443.topic">Tommy Dorsey</a> but also led his own band. He traveled and recorded around the world but returned to Chicago late in life and played into his 80s. He died in 1991.
