Bail was set at $750,000 today for the Plainfield man charged in the crash on Wednesday in Naperville that authorities say was the result of “road rage” and killed a Lombard motorcyclist.
Authorities say Michael Moreno, 31, of the 11700 block of Presley Court, Plainfield, was involved in a “road rage” incident with another motorist, a 16-year-old Naperville girl, while driving a silver 2006 Infinity M45 westbound on Ogden Avenue at about 5 p.m.
Moreno turned south on River Road, crossing oncoming traffic and striking the 2005 Triumph Rocket III motorcycle driven by Gerald W. Puglise, 63, of the 2200 block of Highland Avenue, Lombard, according to police.
Moreno then fled the scene in his vehicle, according to prosecutors. Naperville police arrested him shortly after the crash and he was taken to a local hospital where he tested positive for marijuana, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Moreno sustained minor injuries in the crash, while Puglise died at the scene, police said.
Moreno has been charged with aggravated DUI, aggravated reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, all felonies, police said. He also faces misdemeanor charges of cannabis possession and obstructing an officer and a citation for failure to yield when turning left.
Moreno is due back in court on June 25.Copyright © 2015, CT Now
