Michelle Quigley has joined Weiss Memorial Hospital as chief nursing officer. At Weiss, Quigley plans to build on the strengths of the clinical leadership and develop them to a place in which nurses are a strong member of interdisciplinary teams; courage evidence-based practice in the delivery of care; improve patient satisfaction; and establish unit-based councils. Quigley has nearly 10 years of experience as a top nurse, most recently at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Los Angeles. She started her career in Chicago at the University of Illinois Hospital as a staff nurse in pediatrics. She worked at other area hospitals in Chicago before heading west. After a 12-year stint in California, she returned to Chicago. Quigley worked as a supervisor of Occupational Health Services at Peoples Gas Light and Coke Co. in Chicago and as a director of Bureau of Employee Health Services for the Chicago Public Schools before moving to California. Her experience includes being a surgical nurse, charge nurse, director in various clinical settings and assistant chief nursing officer. Quigley also was adjunct faculty at University of Illinois in Chicago and faculty at Dominican University in the San Francisco Bay area, teaching graduate students. Quigley graduated with an associate degree in applied science in nursing from Prairie State College, a B.S. in nursing at Governors State University an M.S. in nursing service administration from University of Illinois in Chicago.
