The Faun

The <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PLCUL000118" title="Art Institute of Chicago" href="/topic/arts-culture/art/art-institute-of-chicago-PLCUL000118.topic">Art Institute of Chicago</a> discovered that "The Faun," alleged to be a 19th Century work by French artist <a class="taxInlineTagLink" id="PEHST000752" title="Paul Gauguin" href="/topic/arts-culture/paul-gauguin-PEHST000752.topic">Paul Gauguin</a>, is a forgery. The sculpture was purchased a decade ago from a London dealer. One of the members of the Greenhalgh family confessed it was a forgery when questioned by police from Scotland Yard.
